Week 3

Weight 136.5, Total loss to date 3 lbs.

I’ve decided to change my weigh-in day back to Sunday mornings, because weighing on Monday after Free Day is a real “bubble buster”.

I had a 1/2 pound weight loss this week.  This is where extreme frustration kicks in for me.  I ate perfectly all week.  Had a light cheat meal on Saturday night (while staying within my calorie goals) and I’m down a 1/2 a pound! Say what?

But, I know that what I’m eating is good for my health as well as my waist line.

Since the weather has been bad, I haven’t been able to do cardio at lunch outside with my sister (Suzanne).  I have been doing cardio indoors with my other sister (Val), though. (So many sisters, I have one for each kind of weather workout. Haha!)  Anyway, we got caught up with each other on the phone Saturday morning… we always end up talking about health and food and stuff.  She encouraged me to keep on doing what I know is right.  Don’t add more calories yet and don’t CUT any calories.  Give it a little more time.  So that’s what I’ll do.  I know that’s good, sound advice.  My tendency is to want to change something – drastically.

When I lost all my weight (I had a 30 pound weight loss when I got serious about my health), I did it the healthy way.  It also was slow to come off at first and after several weeks the pounds started to really come off.  Granted, I work out a lot now and have solidly for the past 6+ years, so it’s hard to “shock” my body much any more.  I also have typically eaten “healthy” for the past 6+ years, with phases of eating loosely, so my body doesn’t get really “shocked” by food anymore either.  So, I have to give this a little time, and if after a few more weeks something doesn’t seem to be working, then I need to re-evaluate and see if I need to make a change.

Making healthy choices isn’t always easy.  Sometimes it feels like you’re not making progress, but the truth is that anytime you eat for your health, you will make progress.  It just may not always be so noticeable to the eye, but your heart, arteries, blood pressure, cholesterol, skin, etc. will thank you for it!

I wanted to end this post with this video. Jack Lalanne passed away today at the age of 96.  When I was a little girl, my mom used to watch his TV show.  I remember watching him all the time and listening to him talk about health and exercise.  He was a model for fitness and health.

I love that video and how it STILL applies to people in 2011. What a long, happy life he must have had.

Don't get down about your minimal weight loss because you are actually losing a little at a time. The slower the weight loss the more permanent it becomes. Just keep on keepin' on! Great job staying on track.

Jacquie,
Yep keep hanging in there. It will come. Sometimes patience is the absolute hardest thing. But since I have lost weight, I've learned so much about my body. I know if I put on a few pounds, I just have to get back to the healthy habits that got me to where I am now. It is a process and girl I look up to you so much for your fitness routine and healthy habits.

Have I said how glad I am that your back on your fitness blog?

Love you girl ~~ you are an encouragement to me,
Dawn
