Week 4

Weight 137.5, Total weight loss 2 lbs.

I was UP a pound this week.  I have to admit that I ate good all week until Friday when we had pizza for supper.  I’ve been frustrated, and I think that’s playing a part in my motivation or lack thereof.

I need to keep on keeping on and begin another week of consciously making healthy choices.

Week 3

Weight 136.5, Total loss to date 3 lbs.

I’ve decided to change my weigh-in day back to Sunday mornings, because weighing on Monday after Free Day is a real “bubble buster”.

I had a 1/2 pound weight loss this week.  This is where extreme frustration kicks in for me.  I ate perfectly all week.  Had a light cheat meal on Saturday night (while staying within my calorie goals) and I’m down a 1/2 a pound! Say what?

But, I know that what I’m eating is good for my health as well as my waist line.

Since the weather has been bad, I haven’t been able to do cardio at lunch outside with my sister (Suzanne).  I have been doing cardio indoors with my other sister (Val), though. (So many sisters, I have one for each kind of weather workout. Haha!)  Anyway, we got caught up with each other on the phone Saturday morning… we always end up talking about health and food and stuff.  She encouraged me to keep on doing what I know is right.  Don’t add more calories yet and don’t CUT any calories.  Give it a little more time.  So that’s what I’ll do.  I know that’s good, sound advice.  My tendency is to want to change something – drastically.

When I lost all my weight (I had a 30 pound weight loss when I got serious about my health), I did it the healthy way.  It also was slow to come off at first and after several weeks the pounds started to really come off.  Granted, I work out a lot now and have solidly for the past 6+ years, so it’s hard to “shock” my body much any more.  I also have typically eaten “healthy” for the past 6+ years, with phases of eating loosely, so my body doesn’t get really “shocked” by food anymore either.  So, I have to give this a little time, and if after a few more weeks something doesn’t seem to be working, then I need to re-evaluate and see if I need to make a change.

Making healthy choices isn’t always easy.  Sometimes it feels like you’re not making progress, but the truth is that anytime you eat for your health, you will make progress.  It just may not always be so noticeable to the eye, but your heart, arteries, blood pressure, cholesterol, skin, etc. will thank you for it!

I wanted to end this post with this video. Jack Lalanne passed away today at the age of 96.  When I was a little girl, my mom used to watch his TV show.  I remember watching him all the time and listening to him talk about health and exercise.  He was a model for fitness and health.

Week 2

Weight – 137.0, Total loss 2.5 pounds

I was a little bummed that the scale didn’t budge this week, but I wasn’t surprised since it’s time for hormones to play a part.  I know that I ate well all week.  I know that I got my workouts in.  So, I know that I have to relax and keep on doing what I know to do.

My goal for this week is to try to drink more water.  I used to drink a minimum of a 1/2 gallon a day and I would shoot for a gallon a day.  But, I have really gotten lazy about my water intake.  A great way to get a head start every day is to drink a full glass of tepid water when you get up in the morning.

2011–Time to Get Back in the Game

Weight 137.0

After having a year of pathetic eating… I’m trying to regroup and get my head back in the game.  My goal is to eat for my health.  I have spent the last year eating good about 75% of the time and then the other 25% eating all kinds of junk.

Seriously.

When your head isn’t in it, people, it’s hard to have success.  My workouts have been and remain strong and focused, but my eating is the area that I tend to either do really well or really poorly in.  It’s all in my frame of mind.  Am I the only one??

So, starting last Monday, January 3, I started making good food choices and limiting my cheats to Sundays (Free Day) and maybe one moderate meal on Friday or Saturday.  And I was spot on this week.

Then end result? I lost 2 1/2 pounds.

The Pursuit of a Healthy and Fit Life

I haven't posted in FOREVER... and to be honest, the scale shows it.  I haven't counted WW points in close to a year and my weekend eating has been atrocious.  Just sayin.  So, since January of this year, I have gone from 125 to as high as 138 and today I weighed in at 134.

That's upsetting to me, of course, and fitness and health is a life-long commitment, but that being said, I have come a LONG way from where I was back in 2004 when I first started really trying to pursue health.

At the risk of disgusting y'all, here is a “before” photo of my back from November of 2004.

And here is my back (at work) yesterday in the gym.  (My workout partner told me I needed to see what I look like working out. Ha!)

So, while I'm not following a set eating program right now... I still strive to work out at least 5 days a week and I can say that my eating from Monday through Friday afternoon is usually great... it's the chips and salsa and pizza that are killing me on the weekends.

Life is about balance... and we all struggle to find the right balance.  We’re really not in this alone.

I’ll try to post a little more often.  In the meantime, let me know if you have any questions.

Keep on keepin' on!

C1 2010 – Week 3, Day 21 of 84

Weight 125

I was back up 2.5 pounds this week… not surprised. At all. I got all my workouts in and I ate good all week (with one exception).  Hormonally, it’s time to be up on the scale as well.

My focus this week will be to get in all my workouts and eat healthy.

On to week 4…

C1 2010 – Week 2, Day 14 of 84

Weight – 122.5

Down 4.5 pounds this week! (Hey kids, don’t try this at home.)  I was down 1.5 pounds as of Thursday morning from getting back to my “normal” way of eating.  But, then Thursday I got a stomach bug and couldn’t eat anything until Saturday morning. So, I look for part of that weight to come back this week, even if I’m eating healthy.

My workouts were great until Thursday, too.

I might add here, that since I’ve been eating healthy and working out at least 5x a week… I don’t get sick.  In over 5 years, I’ve barely even had a head cold. So, when I am sick… I’m a huge baby! Ha! But, I’m feeling better now…

On to week 3…
